Why ours are different
Most fire pits are sheet metal with a logo on it
Ours are plate steel, welded in one piece, heavy enough that the wind never moves them. That difference shows up in year three, not week one.
Thick American plate
3/16" A36 hot-rolled carbon steel on every size. You can feel the difference before you ever light it.
One welded piece
Continuous seam welds, a heavy base ring, and nothing to bolt together. Nothing in the fire that can fail.
Weathers, doesn't fail
Bare steel builds a stable patina instead of scaling and burning through the way thin imported bowls do.
Simple by design
No cartoon cutouts, no stamped scenes. Clean geometry that looks intentional next to a modern house or an old farmhouse.
Made and sold here
Cut, rolled and welded in Central Virginia. The person who answers the phone knows how your pit was built.

A father-and-son shop, not a drop-ship storefront. We deliver most of these ourselves.

You do not need to borrow a truck. We deliver across Central Virginia ourselves — a $100 minimum covers the first 25 road miles, then it is $1.90 per mile past that, and extra pits on the same run add a little more. Because every pit is built to order with hand-forged handles, plan on about 2–3 weeks from order to pickup or delivery.

Our story
A family shop teaching the next generation to build
Barboursville Fire & Forge started in a two-bay shop outside Charlottesville with a plasma cutter, a roller and one very specific goal: build something worth buying, and teach our kids how a real company actually runs while we do it.
They cut and grind. They pack orders. They ride along on deliveries and talk to customers. When you buy a fire pit from us, you're funding an apprenticeship in building, pricing, selling and standing behind your work.
